Gallery Pick- Kathy Loves to Scrap

How amazing is this layered and torn paper page from Kathy Loves to Scrap in our Gallery. I am absolutely loving her title on the little doily as well... and that photo absolutely needed to be on a scrapbook page... I love it when people scrap themselves especially older photos. I also love the clock used on the page that links to the passage of time theme that underlies the page. I love this Kathy- sorry it took me so long to let you know... Kathy made this page for week five of our competition in February and March. Thanks for playing along and sharing in our gallery Kathy you're an inspiration!

DT Share- Daily Phone Flower

I've developed a habit to help me slow down and take notice of the world- I try and take a daily photo of a flower on my phone. It's just for fun really but it does lead to some interesting situations when I'm out and about and my brain sees a patch of colour and shouts 'Phone Flower!' at me. :-) I wanted to scrapbook a selection of the photos and this was my solution.

I laid a collection of scrap card rectangles on my page like brick work and left a half centimetre gap around them. Then I sprayed with a variety of KaiserMist colours that reflected my photos.

When I lifted the scrap card I ended up with this. Note I have kept the card scraps and intend to use them on a page soon.

I laid out my photos in a way that felt balanced... thinking about weight and complimentary colours.

I finished my page with white flowers (mini and 2cm) and Green Tara Lace and Maya Road Pompom trim that I cut and dyed with the same mists I used for my framing. Topped the flowers with Kaiser Pearls.

DT Share- City Lights

This page was a muck up... I didn't properly clean the mask after the bird art page and though the purple mist was dry the new spray reactivated it and this was the unintended consequence. Solution...

I found a photo that I felt worked with the Kaisermists I had used that was enlarged enough to cover the whole mess. A little bit of washi and minimal embellishments. Hand lettering, Thickers and Fancy Pants Alphas complete the page.

Christmas in July Cyber Crop

Hello scrappy friends, and welcome to our July Cyber Crop

We have 3 challenges for you, using Christmas as our inspiration.
You do not have to scrap Christmas photos, we are just taking our inspiration from Christmas ☺  However, if like me you haven't finished scrapping last Christmas then feel free to do so!!

Please join us over at our Facebook chat page.  We love to welcome new friends, it's a private page, so just message me and I can add you.

Challenge 1 - All that glitters and sparkles!

I love the decorations silver and gold, I love the lights all sparkling and bold. This challenges is to bring some Christmas sparkle to your page. Make gold or silver or a metallic sparkle a feature of your page... think bling, crystals, metallic mists, metallic cardstock, glitter or glitter paper... make it shimmer and shine!
Here's my take...

I love the way these Copper Glitter Thickers match Will's hair! This was a favourite photo of my very thoughtful boy so I am glad to get it scrapped. I used Basic Grey Serenade Peacock Paper and Element stickers. I was busting some of my stash so I've used wood veneers and word stickers from Cocoa Vanilla lines: Love always, Endless Summer and You Rock! Finished off my page with some gold mist from my own stash and a Gold pen.

Challenge 2 - Colour Challenge - Red White & Green

This challenge is to use the traditional colours of Christmas... you can make a Christmas page or co with something completely different so long as you page is predominantly Red, White and Green.

I love the Bazzill Dotted Swiss cardstock for adding texture and interest to my page in a subtle way. I've used the Irish Eyes and Phoenix on this page as well as the regular Bazzill White for my background. Added in a bit of playful spotted patterned paper from Cocoa Vanilla- Love Always - Class Act, My title is from the CV You Rock Cut apart sheet- Random and Glitter Thickers- Sprinkles Cucumber. I have added some playful features in the form of bows from my stash, RicRac, Cocoa Vanilla Enamel Dots and Enamel Shapes. Lastly I added dots of the Nuvo Crystal Drops: White, Red Berry, Apple Green and Black

I'm really enjoying the flexibility of the Nuvo Crystal drops... I know I am not going to run out of the size and colour of the dots I want for my project. Plus I can create other shapes as well. I have done these dots direct to page- but I have also made some premade dots on a non stick sheet which I can glue on my page. I got the primary colours and black and white in the gloss drops to start but will definitely look at adding some more of my most used colours to my collection- they are a much more economical way to go as well.

Challenge 3 - Use ribbon on your page

Such fun going though my ribbon box!

It's so easy creating when your using everything from a 1 range!  I've used Cocoa Vanilla 'You Rock' papers and embellishments, I honestly don't thing there is anything in the range I don't love!!  I've sprayed and dropped with KaiserMist -White, and I've use two thin bits of ribbon to help to "frame" my photo.

Hope you enjoy this challenges, we will be chatting over on our FB page, with a odd game or two over the weekend ☺

You have a week plus to upload your creations into the gallery - Here
Due date Sunday, 6th Aug - Midnight

Tama's Bird Art

One of the ways I like to use my masks is as a faux stamp... You spray the mask on a 'scrap' surface and then carefully pick it up and 'stamp' it on your page.

On this page I sprayed the background aqua first and then stamped my mask with the Kaisermist Blackberry to create a home for my photo.

A photo is a great way to keep the memory of your child's treasured art work without having to have the bulk of all their precious work... this picture was a particular favourite of mine.

Supplies Used: Bazzill Cardstock, Kaisermist: Aqua, and Blackberry. Crafters Workshop 6x6 template. Fancy Pants Happy Place Flairs, Kaisercraft Resin Blossoms: Pansy, Cocoa Vanilla Endless Summer Accessory stickers and Enamel Shapes, Alpha's Jillibean Soup.

DT Share: This Boy is Unique

This page is a good example of needing to take a step back from the table and see what's really happening on the page. The page is ok- but that red 3x4 card is overwhelming everything... it's the first thing your eye goes to on the page... and that wasn't my intention at all. The page design is still fine but both the both colour and the visual weight created by all that text makes it not such a good choice to take that spot.

I swapped the cards around just roughly using photoshop and I think you can see the difference it makes to the page... the card is still visually heavy - but now it balances with my photo and and by adding the smaller word stickers around the edges it lightens up. Plus the lighter blue of the journalling card doesn't steal the show from the photo. I could go and change the page for real... but I think I'll just leave it and try and be a bit more mindful next time. The easiest way to do this is to walk away from my page for a few minutes before I stick it down and then come back and see where the first place my eye goes to on the page... if it's not where I wanted it to land (normally my photo) then I need to change things up a bit.

Supplies used on this page: Bazzill white cardstock, Cocoa Vanilla- You Rock!; Papers: Random and In line. Embellishments: Enamel Shapes, Die Cut Ephemera, Accessory Stickers, Chipboard Accent Stickers. Kaisermist Denim. Washi Tape: WRMK Pomegranate.

DT Share: Brothers

As a Mama of three boys and a big fan of anything with stars I was pretty excited when the new Cocoa Vanilla line "You Rock!" arrived in the Mystical store. This page is super a simple but feels like a lot of fun... which is what these two are... on a good day. It came together fast because I've used mostly completely the one line of products.

Supplies: The Cardstock is Bazzill White and Raven and the rest is Cocoa Vanilla - You Rock! Papers: Galatic, Starshine, Random, and Stripped. Embellishments: Chipboard accent stickers, Flair Buttons and Rubber Charms.

Gallery Pick

Life has been crazy busy lately and I haven't had any time to catch up with everyones work in the Gallery but I still have these pages by Sharnook from our competition at the start of the year on my favourites list. They are all so lovely I couldn't pick just one. Great pages designs, lovely colour combos, playfulness, and nice balanced embellishing are just some elements of Sharnooks signature style.

Thanks for sharing your pages with us in the Mystical Gallery Sharnook!

DT Quick share: Happy Family

Wood Veneers: Cocoa Vanilla Love Always, Washi Tape: WRMK and Green Tara Leaves on Blue. July Mid month challenge: Mask and Spray

Our second challenge for July is to work with a mask or template and some mists, ink, paint or spray. I have a couple of ideas for you...

For this page base I picked up some cheap plastic cutting mats from the Reject Shop and trimmed one down to 12x12. Then I cut it into the sun ray pattern and laid out every second piece on my white cardstock. I've used the peach and the yellow Kaisermists and over sprayed to get the sunlight/ombre effect.

For my second page I used a Crafter's Workshop 6x6 Template and the same Kaisermist colours with the addition of some Candy (pink). I lay my template down and sprayed over it as well as a touch of colour in the corner leaving a bit of white space in-between. I've also opened a complimentary colour- turquoise mist and flicked the bottom of the pump tube to get the splatters. I've brought them from the top corner down on the diagonal to add some flow to my page- and made my title match with thickers from the store.

If you don't have any masks yet there are a huge variety in the store here. Or you can use chipboard shapes or cut your own from cardboard.
