DT Share ~ That Construction Feeling

This page mixes  up my January and February kits- that awesome striped paper is from Fancy Pants- What a wonderful day- Astounding! There's also Bazzill Black & White Cardstock, and Core'dinations Grey. My Sunbeams are Kaisercraft yellow pearls and the super fun word strip on my photo is from Pink Paislee's Hey Kid line: Tags. The 'fantastic' puffy sticker title comes from the new Fancy Pants Happy Place line.

I typed my journalling up to match the stripes- it's a play school rhyme which can be heard quite often around here.

Come share what you've been making in the gallery, I'd love to see it.

DT Share - Basic Grey - Olivia

Hi :)  It's Kathy, with a page to share with you today.
I decided to use some cute photos of my youngest daughter turning 4.
And I kind of did a mashup of 2 of the challenges from our current CyberCrop.
I used Gypsy's Challenge to use red and gold and I also used Donna's challenge to incorporate 3 arrows :)

The gorgeous paper is from Basic Grey - Olivia - Kembrie.  There is a very cute pattern on the other side, but I loved this plainer, distressed side for my photos.
The greyish scalloped edge is from Pink Paislee - Hey Kid - Elements Stickers.  I thought this went really nicely with the photo panel.  And I decided to add some dots to it using a Uniball - Signo - White pen, just to "lift it" a bit.
I also used Bazzill basic cardstock - white as a matt around the photos and Thickers, black pearls and gold arrows (from my stash).

There's still time to join us in our CyberCrop.  I hope you will :)

Thanks for dropping by for a look today :)

Kathy

How lovely is Lisa's page for February's back to school inspired challenge!!

I'm loving the use of 'white' (blue) space on this page and the embellishment clusters. When you first look at the page your eyes go straight to the photo- which makes it a perfect design for a scrapbook page!

Thanks for sharing your fantastic page in the Gallery Lisa!

Year of the Monkey ~ CyberCrop

Welcome to the February Cyber Crop where we have taken our inspiration from the Chinese New Year!

2016 is the year of the Monkey and the signs for the Monkey are;

Lucky numbers: 1, 7, 8
Lucky colours: white, gold, blue
Lucky flowers: chrysanthemum, alliums
Lucky directions: north, northwest, west

.....and this is where we have found our inspiration for our challenges!

Gypsy's Challenge: Red-ish and Gold!

Red and gold are both colours of good fortune and luck in the Chinese culture. Your challenge is either to use the colours Red and Gold or to scrap a page that relates to Good Fortune or luck.

I have the good fortune to have a wonderful sister- Caitlin, and she has the good fortune to have a lovely partner in Scott. Who recently had the good fortune to graduate from the University of Otago!

This page is more pink than red I will admit- but I liked that it picked up the pink from Cait's scarf. And I'm always fairly flexible with rules!  That lovely pink paper is from Little Yellow Bicycle and is on special in the store- it has a cool X's and O's pattern on the flip side. I've also used Fancy Pants, and White Bazzill. The stickers and flair are the new Cocoa Daisy Line. And my hearts are made from cut down Frangipanis then stitched to the page. And a handy tip... don't try and stitch through a glue dot!!

Kathy's Challenge : 1 Photo, 7 Strips of Paper and 8 Words

It is the Chinese Year of the Monkey and Lucky numbers for the Monkey are 1, 7 and 8.  So my challenge is to use just 1 photo, 7 paper strips and 8 words on your page :)

I decided to make a page of my wonderful kids :)  I used Doodlebug Hello Spring - Baby Butterflies paper and cut it into 7 strips. And the cardstock stickers are from the Doodlebug Hello Spring range as well - they are SO cute and glittery too!  I used some Thickers for the title and pink and green Core'dinations Essentials cardstock.

Donna's Challenge - Lucky Directions

For my challenge I would like to see 3 arrows on your page!

And here's my take...

To keep the arrow's grunge looking, I've painted them black, then when dry I've sparingly dropped on some Dimensional Magic,  then with my finger I've spread it by tapping it,  to give it that uneven, almost hammered metal look.
I've used the very yummy new Fancy Pants range, it will be available in the shop shortly Smile

Memory Maze Grunge Arrows - found here
AC Thickers found Here
Kaisercraft Pearls found here

You have a full week plus, to scrap these challenges, upload them to our gallery and be in the winning for a $20.00 store voucher or a pack of lovely goodies for being the DT pick.

Due date Sunday, 28thst February - Midnight

Chatting is over on our Facebook page - Here
We love new scrappy people joining us, so just send me a message or email and will send you and invitation to join.

Have fun

Journalling Challenge

Hi :)

It's Kathy here.

I used to scrapbook many years ago but then my love of cardmaking took over.
My youngest daughter doesn't even have an album and is always asking where her photos are and why she doesn't have a special book too :(
I have really wanted to get back into scrapping for her AND for me.
So I made a New Years Resolution that I was going to DO IT!
And I HAVE :)
Being on the fabulous team at Mystical Scrapbooks is really going to help me achieve my goals.

So this is my first page after taking a very long scrapbooking break :)

It is my turn to create a challenge for the Mystical Scrapbooks blog and I decided to make it about journalling.
The challenge is to make a kind of journalling border around your photos.
I hope you'll join in and make a page, I can't wait to see what you create!

It can be any kind of journalling.  I decided to just write the Who and Where and then I looked in a Thesaurus for synonyms for Explore, which is my title.
Because I haven't been keeping up with my scrapping, I have forgotten a lot of the details and little stories that go along with the photos.  That's what can happen unfortunately and exactly why scrapping current photos is such a great idea.  But anyway, I just had to get a bit creative :)

I used Core'dinations Essentials cardstock and tore a strip of it to resemble (loosely :) ) rocks. I also distressed the matt around the photos.  Then I used another matt that I did the journalling around.

The gorgeous paper is Basic Grey - Olivia and I also used some Kaisercraft Pearls - Snow.
I made the title using Thickers - Hello Amy.  I love this alphabet!  The fabric adds a lot of texture and I love the stitched look and the font is so fun!

So I've made a start! I hope you'll join me on my journey and we can experiment and learn together :)

(And one of the first things I need to learn is how to take better photos of scrapbook pages! ha ha :))

DT Share~ Carta Bella ~ Rustic Ellegance

A few more LO's with the Rustic Elegance Lines. I've enjoyed the unexpected versatility of these papers which work well for both feminine and masculine layouts.

Wonder: I've used the Ephemera pack in this LO- it is wedding themed but it is easy to use parts, and blank pieces non-wedding LO's. The boldness of the patterned paper and top photo call for minimal embellishing- or the LO would be overwhelming.

Products used: Carta Bella ~ Rustic Elegance: Sticker sheet, Wood FloralEphemera Pack, Labels, Kaisercraft Paper Blooms, Bazzill White.

I've picked up the colour and florals on my daughters t-shirt and the green on the couch in this LO. I've used the stickers to lead your eye from top left to bottom right. Having elements break out of the box gives the page some added visual interest.

Delightful:  I've deliberately placed the bulk of my LO at the bottom of the page and added the tag detail at the top to give focus to the baby's upward view.
If the people in your photos aren't facing toward the viewer then a great design tip is to have them facing inward into the middle of the page or at some item on the page. Some exceptions might be if the theme of the page is looking back to the past or forward into the future.

DT Share~ Carta Bella ~ Rustic Ellegance

I'm pretty much in love with this LO of my sweet little cousin. I had started out thinking I'd add just three blocks on that left hand side with my embellishments in them. But I got carried away and I'm so happy with the result! Some of the items in the left hand side have been popped up and some left flat to add interest to the section. I've pulled the whole thing together with the roses and sequins in a visual triangle (did you figure I love this design feature- it's very unifying!).

Products used: Carta Bella ~ Rustic Elegance: Small Floral, Labels, Sticker Sheet, Ephemera, Kaisercraft Rhinestones and paper blooms, Bazzill White

DT Share~ Fancy Pants ~ What a wonderful day!

A very linear double page layout with lots of lines to lead the viewer across the page. If you look closely you might notice I had run out of the letter 't' so had to improvise with an 'l' and a hyphen. I've added three little pops of green in a visual triangle for an added bit of interest.

Products used: Fancy Pants ~ What a Wonderful day: 12x12 Fundamentals Stickers, Reminder, This Way and Swell. Bazzill White, Thickers, Kaisercraft Washi Hearts, Craftworkz Twine.

Gallery Pick

Hi :)  It's Kathy here.
I'm one of the new Design Team members at Mystical Scrapbooks.
I've been browsing through the gallery for a few weeks now and there are so many wonderfully inspiring pages to look at!  What a talented group of crafters you are!

One of the pages that really caught my eye was this one by DebW, who has played along with our February Challenge.

Deb has highlighted the photo so well.  She has used lots of white space and created a wonderfully clean and simple page,
The bright colours really "pop"!  And I love her use of buttons and circles and those primary coloured paperclips at the top are just so cute!

Thanks for sharing your gorgeous page with us Deb :)

Class onee

If you are a bit shy, like me, and aren't too sure whether to post a photo of your work to the gallery here, I hope you'll reconsider.  It is a great place to share and take inspiration from each other :)

DT Share~ Fancy Pants ~ What a wonderful day!

This is a super simple LO- the fussy cutting takes an extra bit of time- but gives you a fun result. The design of the background paper with the balloons has been followed to lead the eye diagonally up and across the page.

Products used: Fancy Pants ~ What a wonderful day: Sensational and Terrific, Jillibean Alpha and Foam dots.
