Gallery Pick

Check out these two companion pages were shared in our gallery by Mystical Scrapbooks owner Donna. I'm loving this combination of colours- they really give the feel of a warm spring day. The background she had made reflects the patterns and the flow of the water. I also love the minimal way she's added patterned paper to her pages- adding interest but keeping the focus on her lovely pages. It's a great idea too when you have two pages you want to make from the same occasion to carry the colour palette and some supplies across both pages. It's always good to see your pages Donna!

Gallery Pick

This very cool pocket page was shared in our gallery by Jazikt. I love the colour pallet she has used with muted blues and some greys. Choosing to make her main photo black and white really adds to the mood- giving the photo some age, that it doesn't have! Simple embellishing is absolutely all that's needed and is part of what makes a pocket page so fun and fast to put together. Thanks for sharing this pages with us Jazikt!

December 'Ad Nauseum' Cyber Crop

Welcome to our last CC for 2016!

This month we are looking at the advertising that we see everyday and drawing some scrapping inspiration from it.

If you look, you can inspiration anywhere 😊

Challenge 1

For my challenge I've chosen an ad for my favourite perfume, Modern Muse.

I can't wait to see what inspiration you can pull from this ad 😍

For my page, I've used soft pinks and grays, feathers and ribbon.  I will be uploading my challenge page over the weekend :)

Challenge 2

I will quite often spot inspiration when I am out and about and like to grab a quick photo with my phone if I see something I want to remember for later. This advert for instant scratchys caught my eye because I love the way they've treated the text... the colours, overlap and informal layout is lovely and playful. It would work well on a kids page and also on a page about a family member's favourite saying- making the saying the central feature. Even if you don't have time to scrap a page inspired by this image this weekend I'd love to hear the inspiration you get from this one in the chat on facebook.

Here's my page about my son's speech issues...

Challenge 3

The last inspiration piece is a window dressing in a make-up store.... I really liked the partial circle splash and the two additional circle elements... there's also a nice muted colour palette which would work for a formal occasion or winter page. But I imagine a page with a large photo and a bold title when I see this... what does it have you thinking of? Looking forward to seeing everyone's pages in the gallery.

Here's my page...

You have a week plus to upload your creations into the gallery - Find here

Mystical Scrapbook your Christmas Kit

We are super happy to announce that we created a very limited number of Christmas kits, that are now available in the shop!

You can find them here - Christmas Kit 1

This kit makes;

5 single pages - 1 Double page - 1 Pocket page

Over the next couple of weeks, Gypsy will post all 7 pages you can make with the kit which comes with instructions and cutting plans. Of course you free to add your own touches and embellishments to make them your own along the way or just to use materials in the kit however you please.

Have fun

Donna

Hello Gypsy here,  I recently had the chance to work with the October Afternoon Silent Night range to create a limited Christmas Kit for Mystical.

The kit is a limited collection - there won't be many in the store! It has the products and instructions to make one double and 5 single 12x12 scrapbook layouts and one double sided 12x12 pocket page. You could use the kit to scrapbook this coming Christmas - or as a quick and easy way to catch up some pages from Christmas past. It is fantastic value.

Over the next few days I'll be sharing the pages from the kit here on the blog and on the last day I have a hand lettering tutorial as a little bonus. Even if you don't get to buy the kit- make sure you come and get some ideas for scrapbooking your Christmas stories over the coming week.

********

I put all my Christmas pages in the same album each year and divide the years with a title page. I scrapped my 2014 and 2015 Christmas photos with the kit- and used some of the extra bits to make my title pages (not included as part of the kit).

Title pages can be a great spot to use your favourite Patterned Paper sheets... you know the ones with the designs so lovely they are hard to cover up. I love the retro look of the bauble paper above- so it's great to have it as a feature of my page.

Simple but effective blocks of paper... with a banner to add some fun.

The kit is fantastic value and contains....

7 Bazzill Cardstock (French Vanilla)
1 Sheet of Bazzill Cardstock Grey
5 October Afternoon Patterned Papers

Gallery Pick

DebiJ created this beautiful page which she shared in out gallery recently.  I love the unconventional photo- of a sweet moment shared between a couple. We don't often take photos from behind- but I think this one conveys the love of the occasion of marriage in such a lovely way.
The colours Debi has chosen are lovely and soft and really help to give the photo centre stage- the embellishing is a bit bolder- in keeping with the photo but minimal enough it doesn't take the focus.  Using a 'project life' style card for the title is a great idea too!
Thanks for sharing this moment and this page in our Mystical Gallery Debi!
