Jane's June Tutorial

Another fun way to use up those strips of patterned paper ...

1.  Cut a strip of patterned paper (a shorter width works best with this technique - mine is  just over an 1").

2.  Use a scalloped border punch along one side - you can also try a pinked edge or a lacy border for variety.  TIP - if you prefer a plain look skip this step.

3.  Use a scoring tool of some kind to score the border at each scallop (or equal interval).

4.  Accordion fold the strip.

 5.  Adhere the ends of the folded strip together.

6.  Carefully press the folded circle out.  Adhere a circle of patterned paper onto the middle of the pressed out circle.  TIP - Hot glue works best for this or try some liquid adhesive.

7.   Attach a decorative button on top of the circle.  Leave to dry.

TIP - Hold the circle down with a paperweight until it is fully dry - I usually use a small book or magazine.

TIP - You can also use fabric buttons, large brads, felt flowers or other flowers for your decorative center.

Have fun - these are great embellishments on layouts and also make terrific card centerpieces.

Tracey Campbell's Lesson For the Month

Okay I am trying something new this month. I have made my first ever video lesson, it is a bit rough around the edges and is a bit long in some places. But I really wanted to try my hand at making a video.
Please let me know what you think.
I think that this link should take you to it.

Dale's June Tutorial

Hi everyone. It's Dale here. Today I have a tutorial for you involving misting and punched shapes.

First of all, punch out some shapes from cardstock or thicker patterned paper. Any shape will do.

I have chosen hexagons.
Then I placed them on a piece of yellow cardstock and used two coloured mists.
When they had dried I removed the hexagon shapes.

I have inked around the edges of the cardstock using green ink.
I've also inked around each hexagon shape.

This is how the final layout looks.
Products used from the Mystical store include:
Pink Paislee Hey Kid Double Dutch paper and stickers
yellow cardstock
ribbon
Lilibee Key Lime Pie paper
Jillibean Sopu Grandma's Lima Bean Soup stickers
Fancy Pants Memories Captured tape sticker
Prima flower - Marri Collection Fairy

I hope you have enjoyed my tutorial and it has inspired you to try this at home.

Dale's DT example for the June challenge

Hey there scrappers. Dale here with my take on Tracey's challenge.  Here is the challenge Tracey has set for us:

The Challenge if you choose to accept it is.......... to use some of your scraps that you accumulated without cutting any of them!! Yes that is right - put those cutters and scissors away right now
(I will give you permission to tear three times - that is three tears not three pieces of paper).

Here are the pile of scraps I had to work with. Not a huge amount as I like to use them up as I go along. I noticed that a lot of the colours seemed to match quite well so I put aside those ones.

This was a bit of a challenge. I do use my cutters every time I scrap.
Once I had my papers I went looking for a photo that would suit. I found this one of my son's birthday cake.
The only tear I did was on the orange Basic Grey paper.
This was a terrific challenge for using up some of those scrap pieces of paper we all have. I encourage you to have a go. It's a really fast page to do. Pop up your creation in our June challenge gallery. I look forward to seeing it.

Jane's Gallery pick for June

Loved the colours and pretty embellishments and especially loved the story of "Raymond".  Beautiful work Deb.

Tracey's Gallery Pick

Okay I must admit it slipped my mind....I am late with my Gallery Pick for the month I should have posted on Tuesday but I forgot.
Nevermind better late than never.
The layout that I keep going back to this month is by DebW called Lipstick - it is the bright funky colours and those stars...I love it all. Such a fun layout.

Jane's DT example for the June monthly challenge

Tracey set us the challenge ...

The Challenge if you choose to accept it is.......... to use some of your scraps that you accumulated without cutting any of them!! Yes that is right - put those cutters and scissors away right now.

(I will give you permission to tear three times - that is three tears not three pieces of paper).

and I answered the call ...

Unfortunately it wasn't until after I had done my page did I realise I should have taken a "before" pic ... duh!

I have used 5 pieces of scrap paper from the Trendsetter - Fancy Pants range and one nearly 6x4 journaling card for this page.  None of these were the same size or even the "right" size.  The top banner paper was too long and is neatly covered by the wavy paper on the right which in itself was too short and is covered by the card..  The dotted paper was two tiny strips with the "hole" neatly covered by the photo.  The bottom banner paper ends just under the card.  Even the Thickers were amongst the last on the sheet - I wanted cousins but the best I could come up with was kin :)  Please excuse my lack of  journaling - it will go above the "just a note" but I need to check dates and location of this photo with family before I can add it in.

Hope you will join us in this fun challenge this month.  It really is easy and it is always therapeutic to use up some of those leftover scraps we all seem to accummulate.

June 123 Cybercrop

Welcome to our June cybercrop, we are so glad you could pop in and join us. This month the Design Team has created a 123 cyber crop for you - three completely unrelated challenges, no set theme, no set colours....just three random challenges.

You have until  midnight, Sunday 15th to upload your layouts into the Mystical Scrapbook Gallery for you chance at our prize this month.

Without further ado we will get to the challenges;

Tracey Campbell's Challenge

Tracey wants you to pull out your pocket page elements - those cut apart sheets or pre-printed cards and use them on your layout. In Tracey's sample she has used the "Photo SNAP" cut apart from the Fancy Pants Memories Captured range. If you do not have any of the pocket page elements that you have permission to cut some cardstock into a 3x4 inch rectangle and decorate as if it is a pocket page element to add to your layout.

Jane's example using mainly Jillibean Soup -Grandma's Lima Bean Soup - Bit Sized Bits.

Dale Tiernan's Challenge

Dale wants you to scrap a layout about a hobby or a sport, whether it be your own, one of the kids or your partners.

She has used the Twiddleybitz Music Notes chipboard found in the store here and simply inked them using a pen. She has also used the Core-dinations Impressions Chevron paper by Pink Paislee which she has sanded to show the white core. This paper can be found in the store here.

Jane's example using papers from Jillibean Soup and stickers from Basic Grey - Knee Highs and Bow Ties.

Jane Howden's Challenge

Jane is working with chipboard this month and would like to see you add some to your page.  These lovely butterflies or similar are available in the store and the paper and tag is from the Indigo Bleu range from Pink Paislee with some added bling and twine.  HINT - if you don't like plain chipboard try inking them in one or even two different colours like Jane has done.

We can't wait to see what you come up with for our 123 Cybercrop.
Happy Scrapping.

June Mystical Challenge

Welcome lovely ladies, Tracey here with you for this months challenge.

The Challenge if you choose to accept it is.......... to use some of your scraps that you accumulated without cutting any of them!! Yes that is right - put those cutters and scissors away right now
(I will give you permission to tear three times - that is three tears not three pieces of paper).

Here is my photo and my pile of scraps that I am going to rifle through to create my layout.
Choose just a few of those scraps and get scrapping....but remember you are not allowed to cut any paper or cardstock...any you only have three tears if you need them. I used one and tore that long strip of heart paper in half.
And this is the layout I came up with from some of those scraps.

Move It

Add anything else you like from mist to alphas to embellishments to finish of your layout.

Happy Scrapping
Hugs
